"When a Jew decided with determination that he would not be deterred by anything opposing Jewishness and his determination was not because of his stubbornness but because of the true fact that anything opposing Judaism has no power over the Jew for a Jew is essentially connected with God Himself, so when a Jew is faced with a challenge, it is merely a test from God. God uses the test so that when the Jew passes the test, as the verse says, "I will raise a banner on the mountaintop," the Jew is elevated. The test proves that he not only serves God happily when there are no challenges, but even when he is challenged, he overcomes all obstacles."
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the 7th Lubavitcher Rebbe.
